Over on Medium I wrote about why, as a freelancer, you should always talk about money and budgets early when dealing with potential clients. Here is an excerpt form the post:
I can’t tell you how many times, especially early on, in my freelance career I would invest so much in talking with potential clients. Speaking on the phone, meeting in person, exchanging emails back and forth all to learn about their needs and if I could produce it for them. All of this time and energy spent culminated in a proposal to round out everything we had discussed. And at the bottom of that proposal…a dollar amount.
